Two separate park areas comprise Shikellamy State Park, one set on the western bank of the Susquehanna River and one located just across the water on the tip of Packer’s Island. A boat launch site at the island portion of the park allows easy access to the river, also known at this point as Lake Augusta, and fishers can go for the populations of bass and walleye that frequent the area. Both the overlook and marina units have hiking trails and picnic tables, making either portion of the park a great midday retreat for families and couples alike. The park sits near Northumberland and Sunbury right at the conjunction of the branches of the river.
